Gladys I. Hoppe

Gladys Irene Hoppe, age 87, of South Boardman, passed away at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center LTC unit on Friday, August 12, 2011. She was born on November 10, 1923 to the late Stanley and Margret (Hall) Vincent. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, John C. and Alice (Hall) Patterson after the death of her mother at age 9. Gladys married Herbert N. Hoppe on November 10, 1944, in Kalkaska, MI.


Gladys is survived by her loving husband Herbert; her children Richard A. (Judy) Hoppe, of Boon, Evelyn J. (Allan) Gerring of South Boardman, and Barbara A. (David) Fromholz of Charleston, SC; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Stanley C. Hoppe; and her siblings Berta Newell, Lena Inman, Ira Vincent, Fredrick Dean Vincent, Lenorad Vincent, Thomas Vincent, and LeVern Haskins.

Gladys enjoyed bowling, traveling and collecting quarters for her grandchildren. She graduated from Kalkaska High School in 1943, and loved her grandchildren with all her heart.

Visitation will take place on Sunday August 14, 2011 from 3pm to 9pm at Wolfe O'Neill Funeral Home. The funeral will take place on Monday August 15, 2011 at 1 pm with a visitation one hour prior to the service with Pastor Andrew D. Kauffman of The Apostolic Pentecostals of Cadillac officiating.
