Donna Parker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 24, 2025.
Donna Parker passed away on May 20, 2025, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, at the age of 75.

Born on May 13, 1950, in Boston, Massachusetts, Donna led a life defined by intellectual pursuit and personal enrichment. She graduated from Boston University and continued her education by earning her Physician Assistant certification from Baylor University. Her academic journey culminated in a Doctor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University, reflecting her deep commitment to learning and professional excellence. She was a long time faculty member at Brown University where she taught Epidemiology with an emphasis on maternal and child health.

Beyond her academic and professional accomplishments, Donna embraced a variety of interests that brought depth and joy to her life. She had a passion for photography, capturing the world around her with an artistic eye and thoughtful perspective. Donna won numerous photography club awards at the Photographic Society of Rhode Island (PSRI) and Stony Brook Camera Club. She also shared her love of teaching, mindfulness and photography by teaching several classes of mindful photography at the Life Long Learning Center.

Donna was published several time in Black & White Magazine, an international fine art photography magazine. Her proudest achievement was writing and publishing a beautiful picture and poetry book, "Journey of the Lotus".

Her love of gardening revealed a quiet appreciation for nature's rhythms and beauty. Travel was another source of inspiration for Donna, offering opportunities to see new places and reconnect with old favorites. Some of her favorite places were Portland Head Light, Tanglewood, Acadia NP and Longwood Garden. Always with her camera and unlimited excitement.

I will miss the dinners after a day of photography, looking at all of her images while eating. I miss the morning and evening calls. Most of all I miss knowing she was always just there.

May her memory and photographs bring comfort to those who knew her.
