SMALL, Donna M.
Donna M. Small, 60, of Ellington, wife of Clayton J. Small, died on Sunday (November 11, 2012) in Hartford. Donna was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on June 2, 1952 and was the only daughter of the late Alvin C. McCully and Barbara J. (Mason) McCully. She grew up in New Jersey, Vermont and Rhode Island before moving to Florida with her mother after graduating from high school in Barrington, RI. She is survived by her husband of 31 years; their daughter Sage Small; and two brothers, Alvin and Brian McCully. Donna graduated from Trinity College in Hartford (BA in Art History), and from Simmons College in Boston, MA (MS in Library Information). She loved the beach and beach combing, autumn, art, family and traditions and enjoyed spending time at the Small family cottage on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. A perfect day for Donna was at the beach cottage in October with her family around her, a good book and a jigsaw puzzle.
A family memorial service will be held in North Carolina on November 24th. Memorial contributions in Donna's name may be made to the American Melenoma Foundation at www.melanomafoundation.org.

This message is to Sage. I worked with your mother at the Trinity College library. She was so proud of you and talked about you a lot to me, since we both had daughters who were runners. When I heard about her death memories of her popped into my head centered around her energetic approach to life. I really enjoyed your mother.
