Donovan Ray Meadows, 71, of Charleston, WV entered his eternal home on March 17, 2016 with family and friends by his side at the Hubbard Hospice House. Don was the son of the late Buford & Mary Lou Meadows. He is survived by his former wife, Sharon Meadows of Black Betsy; his children, Garrett Meadows of Charleston and Rhondell Miller (Tommy) of Bowling Green, KY. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Sarah Davis (Charlie) of Huntington, Garrett Meadows, Jr. of St. Albans and USAF SSGT Bennett Miller (Brittany) of Bellevue, Nebraska. Two great-grandchildren added to his joy, Alex Craiger and Dakota Miller. Also surviving are his sister and Care Giver, Diana Parsons of Charleston; brother, Milton Meadows of Charleston; companion, Anita Shafer of Sissonville; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Don loved carpentry and spent over 35 years in the construction business. He was the retired owner of Meadows Construction. He was a 1962 graduate of Sissonville High School. He enjoyed telling jokes, traveling, WVU Football & Basketball, Nascar and music – especially Elvis. Don was always there for his family and friends. He was a Christian and a 45 year member of Walker Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Youth Leader, Teacher and Treasurer. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 6-9 pm at Cunningham Parker Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 2:00pm at Walker Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be held at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico.
