Doreen BAIRD Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 2, 2013.
BAIRD, Doreen G. (Age 80) Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed from our loving arms into the heavenly Father's September 30, 2013 in Spokane, Washington. Doreen was born February 18, 1933 in Suffolk, England. She married Claude L. Baird in 1952 and made her home in Spokane. She is survived by: four siblings, Pam, Lawrence, Raymond and Eileen, all of England; her five children, Janet Baird, Louise Jensen (Russ), Sharon Figgat, Michael Baird (Cathie), and Susan Ballard (Rick); eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and her brother, Norman. Doreen was devoted to her family, laughed easily and was a natural prankster. Her grand and great-grandchildren will remember her bedtime stories forever. With heavy hearts we grieve, and yet we smile at the angel heaven has received. We mourn our loss and will miss her so very much. A Visitation will be on Thursday, October 3, 2012 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 3:30pm at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home.

Doreen was a very much loved member of our family.
We remember the great times we had as children growing up.
Today Sunday 6 October, prayers were said for Doreen in the church where she and Claude were married in 1952.
We send our love to all her family in America.

It was always a special treat to visit Doreen. I loved sipping her delicious English brewed tea and hearing her infectious laughter. I always knew her candy bowl on the coffee table would be full of tempting treats! I learned to not accept her can of peanut brittle, as it was full of shooting snakes! She loved her family and was happiest when they were near. So many fun memories of sing-alongs, Whiskey and Orange, and card games when GrandDad came to visit. So blessed to have been her neighbor and friend for many years. She will be greatly missed but her memories will be always cherished. Much Love to the family

Doreen's quick witted English humor always made me smile. She was always kind, generous and fair, even if you did track mud and snow on her kitchen floor. You were always easily forgiven by offering anything with feathers, fins or fur, assuming it was still edible, and you were always invited to sit at her white lace covered table, even if you did arrive empty handed because of Mike and my many misadventures. Her table was a happy place for telling stories and jokes, drinking something hot or cold and eating sweets. My memories of her will last forever!
