Doreen HANSLIP Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of beloved wife and mother, Doreen Hanslip. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dr. Arthur Hanslip; children: Michael and Lisa (Andy Jakab); one grandson; and two grandpuppies. Doreen was born in Airdrie, Alberta, went to school at St. Mary's Convent in Calgary, and attended college in Minneapolis. She then spent 10 years working as a Lab and X-Ray technician in Las Vegas before returning to Calgary where she met Arthur. Doreen took great pride in the achievements of her children, enjoyed entertaining friends and family, and had frequent travels across the globe. Doreen passed peacefully at the Foothills Hospital with her husband at her bedside. A Funeral Service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 - 14 St SW) on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with the family through www.evanjstrong.com. Dear Dr. Hanslip,
Please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of your wife. I had the pleasure of meeting Doreen at the annual Christmas parties hosted by Jeff Way. I was honoured to work with you in the OR at the Rockyview Hospital and think of you often.

Dr Hanslip, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Wife.
I had never met her, but remember hearing stories of her.
You delivered me, and also both of our boys, then said you could finally retire and spend some time with your own family.

Art,
We are deeply saddened to hear of Doreen's passing. Our sincere condolences to you and your family. We have the fondest memories of her while living next door in Chinook Park. She was always so sweet and generous to our kids. Often, she would show up on the doorstep with chocolate smiley faces in hand. The kids loved her! We have never had better neighbors than you both. We cherish the memories.
