It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doreen Lottie Puckett on October 28, 2024, at the age of 66.

Born in Lachute, Quebec, on September 22, 1958, to Grace and James Puckett, Doreen moved with her family to Sidney, BC, in 1966. It was in Sidney where she grew up, attended school, and began building the foundation for her family. Doreen's warmth, intelligence, and determination were the guiding forces in her life. She was a devoted mother, sister, and friend, known for her unwavering support and loving nature.

Doreen's passion for life extended to her many interests. She earned a black belt in karate and had a deep love for outdoor activities like hiking, horseback riding, and paddleboarding. She was a passionate gardener, an avid reader, and a creative soul who delighted in sewing, knitting, and crocheting. In 1993, she relocated to 100 Mile House with her four children, where she embraced the joys and challenges of life on a small hobby farm, surrounded by her beloved pets.

A dedicated and hardworking individual, Doreen approached every challenge with determination and resourcefulness. She earned diplomas in social work, accounting, and bookkeeping, and worked many roles, including as a Zamboni driver and maintenance worker in Williams Lake, where she commuted daily from 100 Mile House.

Doreen's love for her grandchildren was immeasurable, and spending time with them meant the world to her. She cherished every moment spent watching them play sports, paddleboarding on the water, and sharing in their joy. Her playful spirit earned her the affectionate nickname "DoeDoe" from her grandnieces and grandnephews, who fondly recall her silly antics.

Doreen is survived by her partner, Herman Ondang; her children, Alyssa Denney (Graham), Jock Saville (Jodie), Adam Saville (Katelynne), and Amy Saville-Morphet (Shaun); her grandchildren, Hanna Hutchins, Greysen Hutchins, Autumn Saville, and Skye Saville. She is also survived by her siblings: Ed (Martine), Tom (Karen), Mike (Leslie), Maureen, Nancy (James), and Rick (Trish), along with her many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

A celebration of Doreen's life will be held in the spring on Vancouver Island. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the 100 Mile SPCA, Williams Lake SPCA, or a local animal rescue.

Doreen's legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
