DOREEN TAYLOR Obituary
1926 - 2013
On October 11, 2013, Mrs. Doreen Taylor of Saskatoon passed away peacefully in the Royal University Hospital at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her loving family: son Gary Taylor (Margot Beattie) of Milton, Ontario and daughter Bev Parker (Murray Wilson) of Saskatoon; two grandchildren Michelle (Hemant) Naidu and Chris (Dazawray) Parker and three great grandchildren Kyler, Brighton and Kashton of Saskatoon. She was predeceased by her husband Larry Taylor in 2003 as well her brother Derek Moore and her sister Valerie Street. Doreen was born in Kelvington Saskatchewan September 12th 1926 and moved to Saskatoon with her family in 1945 at the age of 19. She took a job with Hudson's Bay and worked until after she was married and started a family. Doreen enjoyed travelling, painting, gardening, crosswords, bridge and other card games. Sunday night dinners were never complete until a few hands of cards were played. The Funeral Service will be held at the Saskatoon Funeral Home on Thursday, October 17th at 1 pm with Elaine Thomas officiating. We would like to extend special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff who helped during mom's final days. Condolences may be sent to [email protected]. Dearest Doreen. I miss you more than you will ever know. Your company meant the world to me and your smile could always light up a room. I treasured our late nights together and hugs you generously gave. You became grandma to my kids and truly my best friend. I think of you often and wish I could hear just one more story of way back in the day. Love you to the moon and back, forever & always.

Dear Gary and Bev-Thanks so much for letting me know about Auntie Doreen's passing. I am so sad that i did not make it up there and thought about all of you all day Thursday. It is a melancholy feeling knowing that is the last of my dad's immediate family but I have a firm belief that they are all up there together now. Heaven help us!!! (or them!) Ha! What a party! I am so impressed with the legacy that she left, namely you two, and how close you all are as a family. To me, that is the sign of a successful life, when your kids love each other and you! You both were her pride and joy, not to mention the grandkids. She was great fun and got me through some sad times after my dad passed away. I will always treasure some of the funny things she said and did. I hope you will be ok and that her loss will not be too overwhelming for you both-it is so hard when someone like her passes away because it leaves such a huge void. Bev-thanks for sharing her and your home those few summers I came to visit, I really did appreciate it. Bev & Gary, I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many wonderful memories of your mother while growing up in Saskatoon. She was so very kind, loving and extremely funny. My heart goes out to both you.

Gary & Bev … I have fond memories of times our families shared when we were little gaffers. It was nice to see your Mom at Mary Cone's 85th. I offer you-and your families- sincere sympathy at this sad time.

Bev, Gary and families, reading the news of your mom's death in today's newspaper made me sad. She had a good long life that has no doubt left many treasured memories for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I spent a lot of time at your family home when we were much younger, Bev, and your mom always welcomed me. I am truly sorry for your loss and offer my sincere condolences.
