Doris Albanese Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 25, 2013.
Doris Anne Albanese, 86, of Peabody, formerly of Avon, CT, and West Nyack, NY, passed away on April 24, 2013. Doris was the beloved wife of the late John Albanese for over 63 years. Their love and dedication to one another was a stellar example of how they led their lives and raised their six children. Born in New York City on June 30, 1926, Doris was the only child of the late Jen and Robert Fichbohm.

Known for her quick wit and keen mind, Doris spent her early years devoted to raising her family and later worked as an administrative assistant in advertising. Always open to new ideas, in retirement she began playing golf with her dearly loved partner John and friends in CT and at their winter home in Florida. Doris was a voracious reader, often clipping and sending interesting articles to her children and grandchildren, always attaching a happy face to her signature. Her elegance, wisdom and laughter will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Doris is survived by her six children: Diane (Alan) Rimmer of Wolfville, Nova Scotia; Matthew (Barbara) Albanese of Glendora, CA; John (Susan) Albanese of Newtown, PA; Robert (Kathleen) Albanese of Sudbury, MA; Elizabeth (Thomas) Richissin of Reading, MA and Mary Albanese of Marblehead, MA; sixteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate Doris' life will be held at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead on Saturday, May 4 at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Benevolent Fund at Brooksby Village, 200 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA 01960 in honor of Doris Albanese. Arrangements under the direction of the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, Marblehead.
