Doris B. Conley, 88, of Marion, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, October 26,2017, at Autumn Care of Marion.

Ms. Conley was born on July 11, 1929, in McDowell County, to the late A.C. Borders and Ollie Lillian Largin Borders.

Ms. Conley was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and auntie who enjoyed being around her family and friends. She was a member of Mt. Zion AME Zion church where she loved to worship the Lord and enjoyed singing in the choir. Before retirement, she worked in housekeeping at Autumn Care. She loved raising her eight children and being a mother. She loved playing basketball in her younger days and was on the girls high school basketball team. Ms. Conley had a great sense of humor and could always leave you with a smile. Most of all, she was a great mother whose family will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her two daughters, Phyllis Borders and Virginia Borders; and a sister, Mary Lillian Borders.

Surviving Ms. Conley are her sons, Bernard (Estella) Borders of Marion, Jonathan (Melvolyn) of Charlotte, and Victor Conley of Marion; daughters, Gwendolyn Williams of Marion, Gloria (Larry) Boyce of Marion, and Anita Largent of Marion; a special niece, Mary Garrison, of Charlotte; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion AME Zion church, with the Reverend Thelena Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at McDowell Cemetery in Marion.

Kirksey Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Conley family with arrangements.
