Doris "Dorie" Eriksen

Eriksen, Doris "Dorie" 4/26/22 - 3/14/11 Doris Helen Mercier was born in Rice Lake Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles and Delphine Mercier. She liked attending Catholic school there before moving to the Twin Cities. She died near her North Port, FL winter home of an inter-cerebral hemorrhage. Doris and the late Milo Everson reared three children: Garry, Tom and Dara, all of whom live in the Twin Cities. As a full time home-maker, Dorie canned, sewed, and developed a passion for gardening. Dorie married Jack Eriksen in 1972 and moved to Bloomington, MN; together they loved to travel, especially their cruises. She made new friends wherever she went, including spending many years volunteering at the local school cafeteria. She was quick with a joke and hung a broad collection of funny sayings on her walls. Playing harmonica with "The Happy Wanderers" became Dorie's favorite hobby. She paid special attention to her looks, always wearing coordinating outfits and even had her husband paint shoes to match her various clothing. Dorie delighted in spaghetti, and her favorite color was pink. She couldn't get enough pink clothing, pink decor, etc., etc. Dorie is survived by her husband, Jack; her stepdaughter, Barbara; three children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dorie's large family of origin brought her constant joy and some of her favorite memories. She has four surviving siblings: Marion Van Helden of Kalispell, MT, Donna Meyer of Rice Lake, WI, Dolly Scott of Racine, WI, and Chuck Mercier of Severna Park, MD. Dorie was predeceased by siblings, Irene, Jeanette, Elaine, Lucille, DuWayne, Wallace, Vernon, and Morris. She will be missed by all who knew, enjoyed, and loved her. A memorial service will be scheduled in April at House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Richfield.
