GEORGE ANDERSON Obituary

George Anthony Anderson, Jr., 85, of St. Petersburg, died peacefully in his home Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay. He was born in Schenectady, NY, and came here in 2005. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady, and also U.S. Navy Hospital Corps School. George was a U.S. Navy veteran, and served in WWII, 8th Beach Battalion as well as the Korean War. He was a member of the Sampson Veterans, VFW Post 357 and 1895. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Scotia, NY. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Evelyn Graham Anderson; and his parents, George Anderson, Sr. and Louise Wohlfart. He is survived by his daughters, Claire Malczyk and Marian Mattice; his sister, Dorothy Schrom of Raleigh, NC; son-in-laws, Frank Malczyk and Kenneth Mattice; his two grandsons, Jeffrey George and Matthew Callan Malczyk; and numerous cousins, neices and nephews. Viewing will take place Saturday afternoon, February 12th, from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a service at 3 p.m. at Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, NY. Burial will take place at Viewland Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY, where his late wife was laid to rest, later this spring. The couple shared the same Confirmation Bible verse which is inscribed on the grave marker, "Be Thou Faithful unto Death and I will Give Thee a Crown of Life."
