Gainesville - Doris Lorain Hoppes, 104, of Gainesville, FL died Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Born at home February 5,1920 in Oxford, Indiana, the only child of Hubert Emerson Canine and Minnie Stewart Canine.

Doris attended Oxford High School, in Oxford Indiana. She married Earl Eugene Hoppes on June 12, 1938, in Oxford. They were married for 67 years until his passing in 2005.

She was a homemaker and a dairy farmer and worked as a bookkeeper and office manager at the grain elevator in Raub Indiana.

When they retired from farming in 1982, they moved from Earl Park, Indiana to Gainesville, Florida. She was a charter member and past deacon of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.

She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, antiques, decorating, gardening, visiting with friends, and a good sale. Most of all, she loved God and her family.

Surviving are two daughters Rebecca McIntyre of Alpharetta GA, and Melinda Coleman (husband: Mark) Gainesville, FL, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Doris and Gene will be buried together in Oxford Indiana. Services will be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Haven Hospice of Gainesville FL. Please visit her memorial page at www.williamsthomasfuneralhome.com.
