Doris Young

Doris Young, 65, of Clifford, died Sunday after an illness. She was the wife of John M. "Jack" Young, who died Jan. 2, 2004.

Born Jan. 8, 1947, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Waring and Doris McDade Taylor. She had resided in Susquehanna County for 35 years and was employed as a sales clerk at Boscov's in Scranton for 20 years.

She always enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, whom she cherished.

She is survived by a son, Brian P. Young and wife, Wendy, of Liberty, N.Y.; two granddaughters, Sabryna Alley, who resided with Doris; and Tristyn Young; a brother, James Taylor and wife, Barbara, of New Brittan; a niece and nephew, Nadine and James.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher J. Young, on Nov. 23, 2007.

A blessing service will be Thursday at 1 p.m., from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, by the Rev. John C. O'Bell, associate pastor of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Friends may call Thursday from 12 to 1.
