Dorothy Leone Barnett

Dorothy "Dot" Leone Barnett, 88, formerly of Crystal Falls, passed away on July 22, 2025, in Howell, MI. Born on November 28, 1936, Dorothy dedicated much of her life to the nursing profession, providing care and comfort to many throughout her career.

Dorothy graduated from Forest Park High School in 1955 and furthered her education at Northern Michigan University, where she earned her license as a Practical Nurse (LPN). Her commitment to healthcare was profound, touching the lives of countless individuals and their families.

An avid sports enthusiast, Dorothy enjoyed bowling, wallyball, and baseball, sharing her passions with friends and family, which brought joy and laughter to many gatherings.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Alexa in 1964 and Norman Barnett in 1970. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Barbara Virden (1973), Rose Anderson (1986), Ruthe Schroeder (2019), and Carol Rae McWilliams (2024), and her mother, Celia Bowser (2004). She is survived by her children, Terry (Suzie) Alexa of Crystal Falls, John Alexa of Ann Arbor, and Susie (Brian) Clearwater of Howell; grandchildren, Robyn (Heath) Condon, Justin (Kalie) Alexa, Julian Alexa, Chelsea (Scott) Wedemeyer, and Matt Clearwater; great-grandchildren, Collin and Chloe Alexa, Aubrey Finke, Cadyn and Maree Wedemeyer; and sister-in-law, Donna (Donny) Aberly.

Dorothy's life was marked by her resilience, kindness, and the deep bonds she forged with those she loved and cared for. Her legacy will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
