Dorothy Bergman Boyer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, departed this life on Jan. 25 at the age of 97 years. She was born to James Edwin Thompson and Minnie Carter Thompson on June 9, 1910 in Council Bluffs. Dorothy graduated from Woodbine High School in 1927. She moved to Council Bluffs from Woodbine after graduation. Dorothy married Edward Harry Bergman in Council Bluffs on Aug. 6, 1928 and he preceded her in death. She then married James Richard Boyer on Nov. 11, 1960 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1996. She was the owner of the retail clothing store, Dorothy's, from March 1, 1950 until January of 1975. She was a member of Pythian Sisters and Asbury United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter-in-law, Marge Bergman of Lubbock, Texas; two grandchildren, Harold Edward Bergman, Jr. and wife Ursula Rangel Bergman, Gerald Edwin Bergman and friend Chris Smith of Lubbock, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Edward Jarrod Bergman and Alyssa Nicole Bergman of Lubbock, Texas; one step-son, James Richard Boyer, Jr. of Port Angeles, Wash.; one step-daughter, Lori Dempster Mis of Fort Collins, Colo.; two step-grandchildren, Jason Boyer and Josh Dempster; four step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by one son Harold Edward Bergman, Sr. on Sept. 21, 2002.
Memorial may be made to a charity of your choice.
