Dorothy I. S. Lesher

DOROTHY I.S. LESHER, age 88 of the Otterbein St. Marys, and formerly of New Bremen, died on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 12:55 A.M. at the Joint Twp. Dist. Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. She was born on September 24, 1925 near New Bremen, the daughter of the late Irvin and Ida (Poppe) Neuman. On January 25, 1948 she married Clarence Lesher, who survives in St. Marys. Also surviving are their children Linda and Mark Forry of Hamilton, OH, Barbara and Bruce Lemmon of New Bremen, Joe and Teri Lesher of New Bremen, grandchildren Levi and Brittany Lesher, Jacob and Beth Lesher, Adam Lesher, Dan Forry, Andrew and Stacey Forry, Zach Forry, Shannon Forry, and five great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was a brother Virgil Neuman. Dorothy was an active member of St. Peter's Church in New Bremen, where she was involved in the Women's Fellowship, the funeral lunch committee, the Quilters, the Refunders, and volunteered in many other aspects of the church. She was a 1943 graduate of New Bremen High School, and a graduate of the Maumee Valley School of Nursing where she received her training as a Registered Nurse. Over the years, she worked as an R.N. at different places including the Joint Twp. Dist. Memorial Hospital, Dr. Noble's office, school nurse at New Bremen Local Schools, and she went on to retire from the Valley Nursing Home after many years of caring for others. She and her husband were charter members of the New Bremen EMS, she was a 4-H advisor, and enjoyed quilting and cooking for others. Dorothy loved to spend time with her family and friends, and she lived life to its fullest by caring for others and always volunteering a helping hand. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Church in New Bremen with the Rev. Charles Richtmyer officiating. Burial will follow at the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
