Poem for the Poet
By Joe and Mary Kay Rowe
Fort Wayne, IN
Our Dottie, loved as our greatest Patriot
Now soar in your golden chariot
Off to rewards so richly deserved
To comfort and peace only for you reserved.
Our Dottie, so busy on earth cheering, uplifting
Helping us, comforting, smiling, joking
Blessing us, rhyming and singing
So busy, so busy for others doing and doing
So hard for us to see you go,
We must be strong and know
That our Heavenly Father does what´s best;
That it was time to give you rest.
So fly away Dottie,
Paul is there waiting.
Heavenly choir singing,
Softly your soul blessing.
And when on the Fourth, we hear bands playing,
Wherever people are smiling and singing and dancing,
Where gaiety and laughter and poetry prevail,
There will our Dottie still sail!

Dottie was so encouraging to me when I joined the American Legion Band as a drummer. I´m not really a drummer, but she kept my spirits up as I learned to support the band. I also think she never knew a stranger. She welcomed and loved on anyone who entered her sphere. She was so full of humor and love of life. I will forever picture her dancing, singing and including onlookers at the YLNI Farmers Market on Memorial Day weekend, the last time we were blessed with her presence. Party on in Heaven, Dottie!

Just found out the sad news this morning that Dottie passed away on Tues. June 21st. Dottie was so much fun to be around. Our friend Susan, Dottie and myself would meet up and have a girls night out all the time with meeting somewhere for dinner then out for dancing and karaoke. Dottie loved to sing and perform. She was a lot of fun and she brought smiles to others. Dottie, gonna miss you very much! RIP!

Remember her singing, dancing and that beautiful smile. And the stories about her and her husband. She is celebrating being reunited with him. I know she´s happy now.

Dottie was so loved by everyone who had the pleasure to make her acquaintance, and is sorely missed! I loved singing and chatting with her at karaoke nights. She was so vibrant and sweet and I hope I can be like her when I reach her age.

We had the honor of performing with Dottie in the American Legion Band. Her kind heart, witty humor, and contagious smile is already missed.

Oh what a loss Fort Wayne has suffered. Dottie always brought energy to any karaoke show. It was literally like "Cheer's". As soon as she walked in the door people would call her name. From her props to her wry jokes, and dancing she was the ultimate local performer. I know she survived her husband, but I'd love to know more about her early years.
Dottie will be sorely missed here on earth. RIP Dottie
