Dorothy Louise (Wilson) Roper, 85, formerly of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed away September 30, 2013 at her apartment at The Forum in Overland Park, Kansas. A memorial service was held October 5, 2013 in the Firestone Chapel at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas.

Louise was born January 27, 1928 to Henry Wesley Wilson and Lillie Ann (Gray) Wilson in Era, Texas. She entered first grade at Six Mile School near Gainesville, Texas and the second through fourth grade at Shannon Elementary School near Denison, Texas.

The family moved to Roberta, Oklahoma in 1937 and she attended elementary school there and graduated from high school in Utica, Oklahoma in 1945. Louise attended college at Southeastern State in Durant, Oklahoma, and then began working at Southwestern Bell Telephone Co.

She married Louis Sullivan Roper May 31, 1948. They moved to Kansas and lived in Kismet and Satanta before moving to Cleveland, Oklahoma in 1954. While living in Cleveland, she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Philomathic study club serving as secretary and treasurer.

She served one term as district vice-president. Louise was employed for 26 years by the state of Oklahoma, retiring in 1990. On April 1, 2006, the Ropers moved to Leawood, Kansas to be near family. Louise is preceded in death by her husband Louis Sullivan "Chuck" Roper, her parents, siblings J.W. "Bud" Wilson, Albert Wilson, Velma Jo Murray and Rayburn Wilson.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Kay Roper Nash, son-in-law Michael Holt Nash, Sr., sisters Marie Harris of Durant, OK, Sue Brown of Phoenix, AZ, and brother Earl Wilson of Santa Fe, NM and grandsons Michael Holt Nash, Jr. (Stephanie), Jeffrey Roper Nash (Karen) and Kip Sullivan Nash (Mirah) and seven beautiful/handsome great grandchildren - Stella and Leo; Austin, Tyler and Jacob; Shelby and Ryan.

The words her grandsons chose to describe her were -"gracious, patient and loving" - words so true. She will be truly missed.

A memorial service will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma on October 26, 2013 at 10 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Silver Link Ministry, care of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Avenue, Leawood, KS 66224.
