Dottie was a good friend and mentor to me. Her grace, humor, intelligence, style and enthusiasm carried us through many tough times at Israel Bonds.
One year after several family tragedies, I had no money for Christmas gifts for my children. Dottie showed up
With three shopping bags of carefully chosen, delightful wrapped gifts for each of my family members (and me.) The love shown by her saved our holiday. It gave us hope and joy.
She used to introduce me as "Stacey, who thinks she´s Jewish." Lol!she had such a command of the English language, it was a treat to hear what she had to say. I carry many memories of laughter with me.
I kept in touch with her after our office closed, and I will miss her every day.
There will never be anyone like her!

Your mother was a lovely woman. She was smart and willing to share her experience. I enjoyed working with her on many projects at Rodef Shalom. I am sure you will take comfort that when many of us remember your mother, it will be with respect and fondness. So sorry for your loss.

I was so saddened to learn of Dottie´s passing.
Dottie was my mentor, biggest supporter and partner in all things related to development at Rodef Shalom.
She was so kind and I will be forever grateful to have known her and worked with her.
She spoke affectionately of her wonderful children and grandchildren often ....
She was a gift to us all.
May Dottie´s memory be a blessing to all.
Please know that I am keeping you and your wonderful Mother in my thoughts and prayers.
Fondly
Ann Bass Roth

Dear Tracy, Lindsay and Abbey:
Writing condolence notes online isn't something I'm too comfortable with but since I'm away I'll share a few thoughts about your mom and hope they bring a smile to your faces.
My first memory of your mom was from when we visited Steubenville when Edith and Phil lived in the house on Broadway (?). I was probably 5 or 6 and she brought over this rich chocolate cake with lady fingers. I just remember this fabulous cake.
Your mom was a class act, ALWAYS put together, always engaged and interested in others. She could have been a trial lawyer with how she peppered me with questions about the cousins every time I saw her or on a visit to Steubenville. Sometimes I felt like I was being cross examined!!
For many years she had this shock of silver hair in the front...I always wondered if it was natural but was afraid to ask. When I last visited her at Tracy's I was going to ask but her X-exam distracted me...And it wasn't that important. And she even got me to talk about stuff that was unpleasant. And she said to the caregiver, "Ellen's the glue that keeps the family (the cousins) together". She was right and it felt really special to me. I will always cherish the fact that she shared that reflection.
Sending hugs and love, Ellen
