Dorothy was a wonderful friend during and after my time as a grad student at NYU´s Institute of Fine Arts, where she was a supervisor in what was then the slide library. She never backed down from a good laugh or a good time and always had great stories to share, as well as sage advice when it was needed. And that marvelous house!

i never met this woman but she was the honored mother in law of my relative, rich kissel. i look at dorothy's biography and i approach her life so fulfilling and enriched that any conversation with her could be a major delight for you yourself and then the friends you have get wind of it through you, because culturally, intellectually and otherwise she was truly a PLEASURE to know. the warmth and seasoning of both family and the arts show in her face photo. she was a person you did not forget and naturally she must have had a stable of friends, even all around the world. may her trip to heaven be stress-free like the relationships she cultivated. my third cousin is married to her daughter michelle, and i send her some sort of certainty in this transitional time, that if her mother was inspected by a higher power, she was labeled "kosher". by that i don't mean she was solely a jewish focused person, in any small town way. i just meant that if dorothy made people comfortable within her presence, rarely said a "wrongful" word, and had an ease with things that would make another matriarch uptight, she passed the test. and that's a relief.
