Dorothy Stone Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 3, 2024.
Dorothy Ann Stone, née Cox, affectionately known as TuTu, passed away on June 29, 2024, in Plano, Texas, at the age of 96. Born on August 8, 1927, in Paris, Texas, TuTu led a life marked by devotion to her family and a passion for her community.

TuTu graduated from Paris High School, a foundational time that would lead her into a fulfilling career and rich personal life. She married William D. Stone, who served in the Navy during World War II, and together they built a life filled with love and movement, relocating several times before settling in Louisiana. There, TuTu found her calling with a large drug company, where she dedicated many years to assisting customers with care and enthusiasm.

Her interests extended beyond her professional life; TuTu was an avid golfer and a trailblazer in the sport during a time when few women were recognized on the greens. Even after she could no longer play, her love for the game persisted, and she remained an ardent fan, watching matches on TV whenever possible. Her passion for sports also encompassed football, particularly the Dallas Cowboys, whose games she watched with fervent enthusiasm.

TuTu was a committed member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Dallas, St Matthias of Shreveport, Louisiana and Northway Christian Church in Dallas, Texas. Her faith and the communities she found within these churches were central to her life.

TuTu leaves behind a loving family, including her children Janie Kay Williams, Susan Marie Stewart, Billy James Stone, and Samuel Cox Stone. She also has 10grandchildren and 11great grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Stone, and her parents, Barney and Willie Cox.

A memorial service to celebrate TuTu's life will be held at 11 am on August 8, 2024, at Northway Christian Church in Dallas, Texas. Her life was a beacon of joy and resilience, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
