Dorothy VanDyke HONAKER, Va. Mrs. Dorothy VanDyke, age 85, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at her home. Born Aug. 10, 1925, in Buchanan County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Elbert Patton and Leah Victoria Hale McGlothlin. A lifelong resident of the area, she attended Harvest Time Tabernacle and Swords Creek Block Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C.B. VanDyke; one son, Ronnie Patton VanDyke; and two brothers, Carson McGlothlin and Nelson McGlothlin. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jack VanDyke and wife, Gretchen of Rosedale; daughter-in-law, Mary VanDyke of Richlands; five granddaughters, Vanessa VanDyke Barker and husband, Wade of Franklin, Tenn., Rhonda May and husband, Buddy of Richlands, Christy Bunker and husband, Steve of Bluefield, Va., Teresa Conner and husband, Doug of Springville, Va., and Madison VanDyke of Rosedale; two grandsons, Jackie VanDyke and wife, Sky of Lebanon and Jordon VanDyke of Williamsburg; two sisters, Carmie Clark and Sylvia VanDyke and husband, Alvie, all of Honaker; three brothers, Clinton McGlothlin and wife, Dorothy of Honaker, Herman McGlothlin and wife, Ruth and Ferrell McGlothlin and wife, Lucille, all of Swords Creek; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of special friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Va., with Rev. Ancil Childress and Rev. Franklin Blankenship officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be Jerry Clark, Bobby Clark, Terry Hess, Jackie VanDyke, Mike VanDyke, and Jordon VanDyke. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Monday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7 p.m. with Rev. Dwight Miller officiating. My heart goes out to Aunt Dorothy's family . I know she will be missed. She is in Heaven with a smile on her face walking and talking with Uncle C.B. and Jesus. We all will miss her. Love you Aunt Dorothy you are in good hands now. R.I.P.
