DOROTHY BUTLER VAUGHN
On June 3, 2018, Dorothy Butler Vaughn - beloved wife of the late Lacy Vaughn; former wife of the late Mayfield Bennett, Lawrence Coates and Raymond Washington; loving mother of Rita Bennett Whiting; sister of Dolores Boucree, Loretta Smith, Robert Butler, Wilson Butler Jr., Wendell Butler, Royal Butler, LaRuby Joy, the late Sinclair Butler, Roscoe Butler, and James Butler; cherished grandmother of Raquel Whiting Gilmer and great-grandmother of Joshua Michael Whiting Gilmer - transitioned from this life. Services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 6800 Oakland Mills Rd., Columbia, MD 21045 on Tuesday, June 12 at 11 a.m., guests are invited to visit from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery immediately following the service.

With a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye, Dorothy was a joy to be around. Though her name may have changed from time to time, she was a Butler to the core! Fond memories of her sweet potatoes (with marshmallows :-) and Beyoncé dance moves will stay with me always. My heartfelt condolences to all.
