Dorthanell Childers "Dottie" Townsend

Dorthanell Dottie Townsend LUBBOCK-Dorthanell Dottie Childers Townsend born Dec. 2, 1923, in Southland, Texas, and passed away at the age of 90 on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at her home in Lubbock, Texas. From 1964 until her retirement in approximately 1995, Dottie served the City of Lubbock in several capacities, including Executive Director of both the Municipal Auditorium/Coliseum and the Memorial Civic Center. She is survived by her two sons, Glen Townsend and his wife Cheryl of Blanchard Oklahoma and Dale Townsend of Loveland, Colorado; brother, L.C Childers Jr. and his wife Doris of Wolfforth; four grandchildren, Robert Townsend of Loveland, Colorado, Renee Gaumond and her husband Chad of Wolfforth, Kim Townsend, and Clint Townsend and his daughter, Emilie, of Rockwall, Texas. Funeral services will be held at Broadway Church of Christ Chapel at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, Feb. 23, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.
