I was Doug's sponsor at the Australian Staff College, Queenscliff in 1981. My heartfelt sympathy to Peety and family. Although we've been out of touch, I feel I've lost a friend.

"To the green fields beyond": I had the privilege to serve with Doug in the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment in the 60's & 70's; a “soldiers’ officer”, all round good guy & great sportsman. My condolences to Peety, Michael, Gwen, Tom & grandson Jack.

So very sorry to hear of Doug's passing. I served with him in the RAC Parachute Squadron and enjoyed his company, he was a top man and an even better rugby player. There will be many accolades said about Doug but put simply, he was a fine soldier who led by example, gaining the full respect of his soldiers. Rest in peace Big Man! Tony Willmore

Dear Peety & Family. I'm most shocked to hear the demise of Doug Cantley, my very dear friend & squad-mate at Sandhurst. Please accept my heartfelt condolence & may his soul rest in peace & be blessed for the great guy that he was. Amen. I'm Bill Taufik from Malaysia.
