Douglas Powell Bockmon

Douglas Powell Bockmon, age 77, of Independence, KY (formerly of Portland, OR and Louisville, KY) passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born on January 18,1946, Doug was the youngest son of

William E. and Betty J. (n?e Ellis) Bockmon, of Louisville, KY, who preceded him in death.

Doug is survived by his son and caregiver, Clay (Danielle) Bockmon and grandsons, Jacob and Brett Bockmon of Independence; brother, William E. (Linda) Bockmon, Jr. of Louisville, KY; long-time partner, Anita Bockmon of Portland, OR, and her son, Neil (Aya) Stoughton of Clarksville, TN; and his nephew and nieces Keith (Gina) Bockmon, Angela Bockmon, and Jennifer (Joe) Major and their families.

Doug was a 1964 graduate of Louisville Seneca High School and attended the University of Kentucky. He was a veteran of the United States Army who worked in the printing industry for many years. He had a love of books and a passion for reading. He enjoyed sudoku and crossword puzzles, music, college football, and rooting for the Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds - all while indulging in a strong cup of coffee and smoking his preferred brand of unfiltered cigarettes. He had a quick wit and keen sense of humor that amused those who knew him best.

A private memorial will be held by the family, who would like to thank the staff of St. Elizabeth Hospice, Visiting Angels, and the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of the Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD) for their services and support in Doug's later years, and throughout his illness. Expressions of sympathy or remembrance may be made to any one of these deserving organizations.
