Douglas Fidel Ferrer, 70, of Carmel, passed away at Methodist Hospital on Monday, December 16.

He was born on December 13, 1954 in Indianapolis to Fidel Ferrer, Jr. and Shirley Haugh Ferrer. He worked in the automotive industry for many years as a finance manager and later for The Canterbury Hotel in Indianapolis and NetFidelis in Noblesville. He was recognized multiple times for his willingness to go above and beyond for his customers and guests. He was a 2006 recipient of the Rose Award and a member of the prestigious Les Clefs d'Or during his time at The Canterbury.

In addition to his work, he was a lover of music. Doug played the piano at his church and for various events around Indianapolis. These include functions at Clowes Hall, for the mayor and governor, and afternoon tea at The Canterbury. He was an avid sports fan and a passionate supporter of the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Cubs, and New York Yankees.

Doug is survived by his sister, Fran (Jerry) Hoots of Florida and his sons, Tim (Heidi) of Lafayette and Andy (Devareaux) of Mulberry as well as 5 grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Jeff.

A memorial service will be held on January 11 from 2-3 p.m. at the First Church of Christ Scientist in Carmel.

I will always remember our lunches after church. We could sit with Doug all afternoon and listen to his wonderful stories. Unfortunately, we didn´t have all afternoon. Doug was often off to visit his family and we all had things to do. He is definitely missed. Sending warmest regards to his family.
