Douglas Vernon Herrick of Pierce, Colorado passed away on November 11, 2024, at the age of 63. He was born in Wray, Colorado on November 9, 1961, to Vernon and Eleanor Herrick. Doug graduated from Wray High School in 1980 and furthered his education at Wyoming Technical Institute, specializing in Diesel Mechanics. Doug was a loving husband, father, and Papa. He met the love of his life Kimberly on a blind date where they played a game of monopoly, they were united in marriage on July 26th, 1996. He had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help anyone. He could always put a smile on his family's face by talking in his famous Donald Duck voice.

He had a strong passion for truck driving, he spent years doing what he loved. He started his truck driving career hauling grain around the Mid-West. He took great pride in his trucks. One of Doug's favorite memories was him and his boys spending quality time together washing, greasing, and polishing his numerous trucks through the years. Doug spent 43 years driving, 20 of those years driving for Walmart and retired in January 2024. While he was at Walmart he had many accomplishments. He was a Certified Driver Trainer, a mentor to new hires in the company, and he instructed multiple safety classes. His biggest accomplishment was surpassing nearly 2 million safe miles with Walmart but had driven 6.5 million safe miles total in his truck driving career. Many of these miles were shared with his wife Kim, and his boys Scott, Andrew, and Jeremy.

He had a love for classic cars, especially his 1968 Chevelle. He was an avid animal lover but had a special place in his heart for dogs. Boxers and English Bulldogs being his favorite. He was happiest when he was attending any of his nine grandchildren's sporting events, he was so proud of each and every one of them.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Kimberly Herrick. Sons Scott (Casey) Herrick, Andrew Herrick, and Jeremy (Rashae) Herrick. Nine grandchildren Presleigh, Annie, Leanna, Treston, Brexley, Emmy, Baylor, Sawyer, and Truitt. Two sisters Martha (Gary) Stone and Margaret Spelts. Nieces and Nephews who knew him as Uncle Buck, Martie (Brandon) Stone, Justin Stone, Melissa (Stuart) Chapman, Melena (Brad) Bivens, great nephews and Nieces Cody (Morgan) Chapman their son Barrett, Cory (Katie) Chapman and their children Avery and Emerson, Casey (Amanda) Chapman, Alyssa Chapman, Kristen Bivens, Christopher Bivens, and Taryn Stone. He was proceeded in death by his parents Vernon and Eleanor Herrick, Brother-in-law Stan Spelts, his Uncle Elmer Herrick, and Cousin Kevin Herrick.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. at 44364 County Road 77 Briggsdale, CO 80611, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Douglas Herrick Memorial Fund, honoring his memory and legacy.

Doug and I went to school together. From first grade to graduation from good old Wray High. Reading obituary here about the Donald Duck voice gave me a flashback to school. He did that voice to the teachers. Had us all rolling.
So sorry for his passing. Hugs and prayers to Kim and all the family. So so sorry.
