I wish to send my deepest condolences to all of Doug's family and friends. We were dear to each other in our early years and he taught me how to enjoy the moment. We know that he is finally at home and only hope that we will meet him again.

Our prayers and thoughts are with Doug's family, especially his nephew Mike Hollick. Doug was a man of courage, grace and had a wonderful sense of humour. We will always remember him and his gentle heart.

I send my sincere condolences to Doug's family and friends. He and I shared a townhouse in Champlain Heights in 83 and 84. We shared an affinity for music, good food and just sitting in the sun. We did not call each other very often, but I am sad that I will not run into him at a concert or somewhere else as we tended to do every year or two. He was a nice and gentle man.

I am another of Doug's GF Strong associates. I haven't seen Doug for at least 20 years, and am amazed he was 50 years old. He was a man of courage, laughter, and I am sad to hear of his passing. I will miss you Doug.

To all who knew and loved Doug, I hope you can some day find the joy in knowing the enlightened spirit that was Doug in this time of great sorrow. I will always remember his shining smile, piercing gaze and sharp wit.
Sharing a mutual love of Golden Retrievers, I totally understood and respected Doug's patience in waited for the right dog for him, his beloved service dog Tandy.
Godspeed, Doug, knowing you were so loved by so many. Pam

I'll miss Doug's friendly smiles and conversations on the trails of Everett Crowley Park. All of the dog walkers were very upset today to read of his passing. In spite of his health challenges, Doug was always upbeat...a real inspiration.

I have known Doug ever since we met in GF and then were neighbours in Champlain Heights. I have fond memories of playing Backgammon on a Saturday night while eating popcorn with Engevita yeast, that Doug said was good, and he was right. My sister and I spent quite a few evening with Doug when he and Rick lived together and afterwards when he moved to Hollyhock. Dougs house always had a steady stream of friends coming and going.
The last time I saw Doug was at a PADS fundraiser in Central Park. He had a big grin on his face and his beautiful Tandy by his side. We shared stories of the trials and tribulations of going through the 2 week training to get our dogs. I will really miss the way Doug could tell a story.
My deepest condolences go to Doug's family and his large group of friends.

Dougs quick witted humour and 500 watt grin always warmed our hearts and made us smile in return. Doug was an inspiration to many and enriched the lives of all who were fortunate to share in his circle of influence.Your beautiful spirit will always be with us.
Godspeed, Doug.

A former neighbour and friend. Always a smile and a warm and cheerful greeting when we saw each other. My best recollection is Doug sitting out in the sunshine catching some rays and working on his suntan.
Dougie, this world is a better place for your being here and we are all so lucky for having known you.
With Love and Condolences,

I was saddened to hear of Doug's passing yesterday. I first met Doug at G.F Strong Rehab Centre in 1982 and immediately was touched by Doug's smile, wonderful sense of living and warm heart. Over the years I would see and talk to Doug from time to time and it was like talking to an old friend and he always made me smile. I was amazed by his timelessness, admired his courage, the care he expressed and felt for others and his gentle nature. I always enjoyed seeing Doug and talking to him. He will be missed.
My deepest heart felt condolences to Doug’s family, relatives and friends.
Sincerely,
Kathy Lawrence-Phillips

I met Doug when we were in GF and then became neighbours in Champlain Heights. I have fond memories of playing backgammon on Saturday nights eating popcorn, which had to have engevita yeast on it, Dougs fave.
I last saw Doug at a PADS fundraiser in Central Park with his beautiful lab Tandy. We laughed about the rigorous schedule we went through to get our dogs and how rehab at GF was less stressful! ;} As usual Doug had a big grin on his face a berkstocks on his feet. This is the doug I'll remember.
I send my deepest condolences to Doug's family and friends, he will be greatly missed.
