Douglas Lendy Mooneyham
Hurricane, Utah ~ Douglas Lendy Mooneyham, age 55, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at his home in Apple Valley, Utah. He was born in Hartselle, Morgan County, Alabama, on April 17, 1951 to Charles Lindy and Imogene Shutters Mooneyham. He married Elyse Marie Hall on September 15, 1978, in the St. George LDS Temple.
Doug grew up in the small town of Somerville, Alabama. He attended elementary school in the old Somerville Courthouse, and later at Cotaco. He graduated from UVSC, Orem, UT in 1988 with an Associate degree in drafting. From his teens, Doug enjoyed working as a mechanic. He was very good at fixing just about anything that was broken. After graduating from UVSC, he worked full-time with the Army national Guard at their headquarters in Draper, UT, until he retired in 1998 due to health reasons. He served in Germany during Desert Storm, and loved his country. During his lifetime, Doug liked to hunt, fish, hike, shoot different types of firearms, work with his horses, and go 4-wheeling. Doug loved his God, his family, his animals, and the out-of-doors. Since his retirement, he has been the one to care for the home and most of the outdoor chores. He is greatly appreciated, and will be sorely missed. Doug, we wish you well in your new adventure, and know you are with your Dad and Mama, other loved ones who have gone before.
Doug is survived by his wife, Elyse, of Apple Valley; children, Melanie Graf, David Mooneyham, Jana (Spencer) Adams, Sarah Mooneyham, Jeremy Mooneyham, Kristin (Brady) Hess; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother; sisters, Tina, and Melinda (Ed) Siegler; step-mother, Opal Mooneyham; and much-loved aunts, Irene Criner and Margaret Goree. He was preceded in death by his father, whom he missed very much; brother, Chet Campbell; and sister Gale Campbell..
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 24, 2006, 11:00 a.m., at the Apple Valley Ward Chapel, 300 South 100 West, Hurricane, UT. Visitations will be held Friday, June 23, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 140 N. Main St., and again on Saturday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, UT (435) 673-2454. Friends and family are invited to view the obituary and offer their condolences at www.spilsburymortuary.com.

My heartfelt condolences to all of Doug's immediate and extended family. I attended school and church with Doug as a child and teenager in Somerville, AL, and still cherish my friendships with his Aunt Irene, sister Melinda, and other family members. Elise, we've never met, but having been LDS myself for almost 20 years, I know you have a special understanding of the eternal nature of families, and that while you will miss him, you also rejoice for him. May Heavenly Father's richest blessings of peace and comfort be with you and your children.

My thoughts and prayers are with Dougs family and friends. I knew Doug practically all his life and he was a good friend. He will be missed much, but we will see him again one day where there is no illness or pain. RIP Doug.
