Douglas H. Mott, Jr., Vietnam Veteran (flag) Douglas H. Mott, Jr., 71, of Waterbury, husband of Noella (Fortier) Mott, passed away on December 10, 2015 at home. He was born on June 6, 1944, son of the late Douglas H. Mott, Sr. & Vera (Crandall) Mott. He was a graduate of Wolcott High School and a truck driver for John J. Brennan Construction in Shelton at the time of his retirement. Doug joined the U.S. Air Force in 1966 and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. At the time of his death he was Senior Vice Commander & Adjutant of the Mattatuck Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8075 in Prospect, having served as Past Post Commander for several years, Past District 2 Commander, various State and National positions with the VFW. He was also an active member of the Waterbury Veterans Memorial Committee and the East Mountain Neighborhood Association. In addition to his wife, Noella, Doug is survived by his three daughters, Candace Mott & her fiancee, Scott Durette of Waterbury, whom he considered his son, Pamela DeSanty of Prospect, Jennifer Moffitt of Middletown, 3 grandchildren, Brett Mott, Brittney Mott & Sean Durette, and great-grandson Myles Levesque, two surviving aunts, Joan Pavlik & Ruth Braziel, many brothers & sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews & nieces, special thank you to his nieces Jolene & Jessica. Calling hours are Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect, CT 06712 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home promptly at 7:00 pm. Military honors will be held at the funeral home immediately following the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family would like to especially thank Hartford Health Care at Home Hospice team for their caring & compassionate support during his time at home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Doug's name may be made to Mattatuck VFW Post 8075, P.O.
