Douglas Nielsen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 16, 2017.
1960 ~ 2017
Douglas Farr Nielsen, beloved brother, father, grandfather and friend, died peacefully in his sleep July 8, 2017 due to complications of diabetes. Doug was born November 21, 1960, to Richard Lee Nielsen and Nedra Farr Nielsen, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Olympus High School, where he enjoyed playing football. He was an avid Denver Broncos and country music fan. Doug spent most of his career in the printing business, working at Lefavor Envelope and Huish Chemical. He was a committed and dedicated employee and loved his work. Doug cherished his family, above all else. Nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his daughter, Daisha, and his precious grandson, Grayson. He loved them both with all his heart. They were his light and joy. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather. Doug was a good, kind, and sweet man. He spent many volunteer hours speaking to and counseling groups in addiction recovery programs. He battled many health issues throughout his life, but fought hard to overcome the trials they presented. He was a warrior who never gave up but always persevered with dignity. He is survived by his daughter, Daisha Mae, Wendell Mike Brewer, and his grandson, Grayson Mike Perry Brewer, his five siblings, Richard Carl and Annie Nielsen, Kathryn (and the late Reed) Morrell, Carolyn Paddock, Marianne and Craig Harmon, Steven and Tamara Nielsen. He is also survived by long time friend Callie Loveridge, and many treasured friends who were very important to him. We are blessed to have had Douglas in our lives, to teach us, love us, and open our eyes to the many facets of life that define individuals in their own unique and special ways. We love you Doug and know that you are in the arms of our loving parents. May the memories of Doug's kind heart and gentle soul be a guiding light to those of us who love him. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.

Doug was my friend in high school... he made me laugh. Several of us shared a home as roommates for a while after high school as well.
Doug was a kind and gentle soul.
I think of him often years later, I cannot imagine the hole his family must have in their heart
So sorry for your great loss

Marianne and family,

We are so sad to hear about your brother. Losing family is difficult and his passing seems too soon. May you find comfort from God, family and friends. We are thinking about you.

Dear Family, I was sad to see that Doug had passed away, but I am sure his parents were happy to see him. I always remember when his Mom started working at the bank and Doug and his dad would come and pick her up. Doug would always get out and open the door for her - I was so impressed because he was a young man. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I know that Doug was a gentle soul who loved his family unconditionally. It was always a joy to see him. He was so good to his aging parents. May his family find peace in knowing he is with them.

Dear Family,
I'm so sorry to hear about Doug. I'm sure his Mom and Dad were happy to see him. I remember when your Mom came to work at the bank, he and Dick would pick her up, and he always got out and opened her door for her. I was very impressed because he was such a young boy. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
