Douglas Overbeek

Douglas Overbeek, age 66, of Holland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Hospice House of Holland after a year long battle with cancer. He was a member of Fellowship Reformed Church and enjoyed his grandchildren and their sporting events, fishing and his time on the North Bayou in Ludington. Doug retired from Consumers Energy in 2010 after 31 years of employment. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lena Overbeek; step-father, Millard Gilman; and brother, Ken Overbeek. He is survived by his: Wife of 47 years Carolyn Overbeek Sons Chad and Leane Overbeek of Hamilton Chris and Mary Overbeek of Pierson, MI Grandchildren Ashley Alec Anna Emma Sister Linda and Lee De Visser of Holland In-Laws Sharon Overbeek of Zeeland Greg and Bev Gorman of Holland Mike and Reneé Gorman of Holland Step Brothers and Sisters Norman and Beverly Felkert of Hudsonville Gordon and Eunice Gilman of Gun Lake Bob and Terri Potts of Payne Lake Many nieces, nephews and cousins Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, March 17 at Fellowship Reformed Church, 300 North 168th Ave, Holland, with Rev. Karl Overbeek, Rev. Marijke Strong and Rev. Brian Keepers officiating. Burial will be in North Holland Cemetery. Visiting hours are scheduled for 1-3 and 6-8 Sunday, March 16 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E 16th St., Holland.
