Douglas L. Parmenter

Douglas L. Parmenter, 60, of Austin, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Doug was born June 18, 1953, in Austin, to Russell and Mildred (Lundene) Parmenter. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he was a lifetime member. He graduated from Austin High School in 1971 and attended Austin Vocational School for one year. Doug married Jeanne (Lammers) on his birthday, June 18, 1988, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle. Doug's lifelong farming career began with his father. He dairy and crop farmed, milking cows and raising feeder cattle until his health prohibited him from doing so. He also served on the Lyle First Responders Squad for many years.

He was a NASCAR fan and he enjoyed attending local dirt track races. Doug loved nurturing and caring for the animals and his crops. He always had a dog to greet him after a hard day of work.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Randy Parmenter.

Doug is survived by his wife, Jeanne Parmenter, Austin; children, Daniel (Shelly) Tiedemann, Waco, Texas and Darin (Dawn) Tiedemann, Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Danny, Katy, Brooklyn and Dylan Tiedemann; brother, Stephen (Judith) Parmenter, Loretto; niece: Laura (Steve) Koski; and nephews, Adam (Rachel) Parmenter and Nicholas Parmenter.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Lyle, with the Rev. Barbara Finley-Shea and the Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment will be at Enterprise Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin, and at the church on Saturday morning for one hour before the service.
