Douglas Glenn Rader

Douglas (Doug) Glenn Rader, a beloved father, husband, and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on January 24, 2025, at the age of 68, due to complications from kidney failure.

Doug was born on March 30, 1956, in Findlay, Ohio, to Janelle and Noble Rader. He was raised and spent his childhood in McComb, Ohio, and graduated from McComb High School in 1974. Despite his Ohio roots, Doug was a longtime Texas resident. Following his bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University, he moved to Texas to work as a computer programmer for Texas Instruments. It was at Texas Instruments that he found both professional success and lasting love, meeting his wife, Patrice, and embarking on a 46-year journey together.

Doug will be remembered for his sharp wit, love of a bargain, faith in God, and his strong (and sometimes stubborn) will and principles. He was never wasteful with words or possessions. His things, words, and people were few, but all intensely meaningful. He believed in punctuality, integrity, service, and perseverance. Yet, he also possessed a wonderful sense of humor, always ready with a joke to brighten someone's day. He was an avid sports fan, a lover of music, and a game show expert.

Doug is survived by his wife, Patrice Rader; his children, Jason Govea, Bonnie Rader, Douglas Rader, Kelly Bender (Blake), and Christy Rader; his grandchildren, Luca Bender and Austin Bender; his sisters, Debbie Edel (Jay), Diane Watson (Craig), and Dauri Shank (Randy); his brothers, Dave Rader (Nan Rawlins) and Dallas Rader, and his honorary brother, Robb Coffman. He was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Janelle Rader and Noble Rader.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a small donation to Meals on Wheels in McKinney, Texas, per Doug's wishes.

A memorial service will be held at Hilton Garden Inn Dallas/Allen, 705 Central Expy S., Allen, Texas, 75013, on February 22, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. Central Time. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Doug's life. For anyone who cannot be present in person, there will be a live stream of the event. Please email Bonnie Rader, [email protected] for the link.

Doug will be deeply and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but we know he is in Heaven cracking jokes, winning big on Supermarket Sweep, and listening to the Beach Boys- all with a ginger ale and seven-layer bar within his reach.
