Douglas Wayne Smith passed away January 5, 2024. He was 70 years old.

Doug was born in Kansas City, Missouri on February 20th, 1953, and raised in Clinton, Missouri. He was a Vietnam Veteran, proudly serving in the U.S. Navy. Upon completion of his service to our country, he worked a variety of jobs throughout his life. He worked oil fields in Texas, then spent the majority of his career as a truck driver. He enjoyed golf, fishing and spending time with his family.

He was proceeded in death by his parents William Lee (1927-1964) and Dorthy Marie (Simpson) Smith. (1928-1988) as well as his brother and best friend James "Jim" Ray Smith. (1950-2020)

He is survived by his wife Gail Lynn (Vanderford) Smith. His Children, Doug, Kathy, Kelly, Jody, Leslie, Michael and Sierra. 8 granddaughters, 8 grandsons and 1 great granddaughter. His sister Sheryl, brother Mike, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all. Funeral service will be announced in the later date.

I remember Doug as a cousin of my then husband, Elmer Smith. Unfortunately, I haven't been in touch for years but will always remember him. Condolences to the entire family.
