Douglas Teisl Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 11, 2024.
Doug Teisl, 74, longtime resident of Big Bend, Wisconsin, passed away on April 10, 2024. He was born on January 2, 1950, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in Muskego, Wisconsin. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marge (nee Gumieny), and his children Becca (Mike) Kempfert, Bradley, and Lindsay (Jeff) Grant. He adored his grandchildren Natalie, William, Jaxon, Lila, Jay, and Gretchen. Also survived by his brother Steve Teisl. He will be fondly remembered by countless family members, friends, and neighbors.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents Tony and Betty Teisl, his sister Kathy Teisl, his in-laws Elmer and Dolores Gumieny, and his sister-in-law Kate Teisl.

Doug attended Muskego High School, graduating in 1968. He served an apprenticeship with Steamfitter's Union 601 and worked as a refrigeration fitter until multiple sclerosis began to limit him physically. He went on to lead a fulfilling life surrounded by his loving family, never giving up despite the multitude of health obstacles placed in his way. Metastatic bladder cancer and its subsequent treatments proved to be too much for his already weakened body. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date to honor and remember Doug.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the National MS Society or ProHealth Care Foundation (designation ProHealth AngelsGrace Hospice) in memory of Doug Teisl. Many individuals were instrumental in helping Doug stay in his home as long as possible; special thanks to Nicole and surrounding neighbors for all the help around the house and the occasional rescue. Additional thanks to the staff at the Clinical Cancer Center at Froedert Hospital, the home care team from Aurora Health, and the exceptional caregivers at AngelsGrace Hospice.

Just saw this on fb ! Steve, So sorry for your loss! I am Diane Thode, graduated 1967 and lived on Groveway Lane near you! My parents were good friends of your parents for many years ! Even after they moved to Shreveport, LA to be near me and the grands, they came down to visit us! I´m like you - the only one left in the family! Stay well , be happy!

So many great memories! Doug coming over and sitting on the patio with Mike having a beer when they took a break from mowing the lawn. Doug carving out a large watermelon to put over my small watermelon in my garden. Doug putting blossoms on Mike's Tree that wouldn't blossom to trick him into thinking it finally did. We remember bonfires and horseshoes. He was a great guy and he'll never be forgotten!

Doug was my first cousin my marriage (Margie Gumieny Teisl). I have known Doug most of my life, he was good friend of our cousin, Gerry Ferguson. We spend a lot time
with in laws my aunt and uncle at my parent `s shawano cottage, many family events:wedding, graduation and birthday celebrations. I was a bridesmaid at his wedding with another cousin by marriage, Mike Radish(Judy Lindner Radish).
Doug, you earned your place in heaven through your life.

Doug was a wonderful man. He told jokes, drank wine, traveled when he was able and always, always loved his family
