Douglas A Tickel Pagosa Springs - Douglas Alan Tickel, born March 20, 1964, in Salina, KS, died December 3, 2022, in Durango, CO. Doug was a resident of Pagosa Springs, CO, caring for wild horses, abandoned donkey, cats and 5 dogs. He leaves behind wife, Cindy Davis; 2 bonus sons, Craig, Air Force (FL) & Matt (TX); father, Lou Tickel (California) & 5 siblings: Lou Ann (Percy), Topeka; Tamara (Doug), Plano, TX; Laura, Rochester, NY; Larry (Lisa), Ramona, CA; & Brian, Murrieta, CA plus bonus grandson, Lynkon. He was a favorite uncle to 12 nieces & nephews, & 12 great nieces & nephews.

He will be missed for his kindness and mischievous smile & tricks. Golfing was Doug's passion, playing local, state and national tournaments. In 1984, he was only the 6th person to win back-to-back championships in the Salina Golf Tourney. He medaled at state at Salina Central, under golf coach, Chris Crank. He played in the Future Master Program in Georgia; Junior PGA in Calif, and other nat'l tourneys. Doug graduated Salina Central (1982) & Wichita State University (1993) where he was on the golf team.

As an adult, Doug lived in Wichita, Southaven, MS, Las Vegas, & San Diego before settling in Pagosa Springs working various jobs in the insurance, hospitality entertainment & oil field industries, fulfilling his dream of working on the North Slope of Alaska just a few months prior to his unexpected death.

Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Jo Ann Weber Tickel, & two brothers, Mark and Mike.

Doug's celebration of life will take place at Pope John Paul II Catholic Church (Narthex area) on April 15, 2023 at 11:00 am, 353 S. Pagosa Blvd, Pagosa Springs, CO.
