Douglas TISDALL Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald from Dec. 16 to Dec. 17, 2016.
TISDALL, Douglas Gordon
November 4, 1965 – Toronto, Ontario
December 9, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta
Douglas unexpectedly passed away last week in Calgary, AB at the young age of 51 years. Douglas was born in Toronto and educated at Upper Canada College and the University of Toronto with a B. Comm. and M.A. in Economics. He had a long and successful career with BMO Nesbitt Burns (originally Burns Fry Ltd.), in Toronto and subsequently, as managing Director, Vice President and Branch Manager, in Calgary. He will be remembered for his successes, teamwork and principled approach in management, as well as for his sense of humour and his skill in mentoring those who were fortunate enough to have known him and worked with him. Douglas's dedication for the Advisory sector compelled him to volunteer as a Board Member for the IROC Alberta District Council and most recently dedicating his time with Pusateri Consulting and Training. He will be remembered by those closest to him for his passion for his dogs, fishing, ornithology and photography. He had a fierce pride in his daughter, Sigourney's, and her accomplishments and Doug's family takes great comfort knowing that his spirit will guide her throughout her life journey. Douglas will live on in the memories of his wife, Sonya and their daughter, Sigourney; mother, Barbara F. Tisdall; father, Dr. Gordon W. Tisdall and Robin Graham; sister and brother-in-law, E. Kay M. Tisdall and Robert G. Mann; parents-in-law, Marcelle and Michel Colin and an extensive family of nieces, nephews and in-laws as well his colleagues and dear friends. A Celebration of Douglas's Life will be held at The Ranchmen's Club (710 – 13th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A Celebration of Douglas's Life will also be held in his home town of Toronto at the Hy's on Thursday, January 12, 2017. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Douglas Tisdall, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

We'll miss you my friend and look back often on so many great memories of times spent laughing or talking about life on the boat and enjoying one of your famous home cooked meals! R.I.P. Gone too soon.

I enjoyed having Doug as a next door neighbour for the past couple of years, and getting to know him and Sigourney. Very sorry to hear of his passing.
