Dear Vicki, Jeff and the Tubbs Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. When I think of Doug, the memory that comes to mind is from the SPUHS Band. Although I wasn't yet in high school when Doug played in the band, I do remember seeing him beating out the drum cadences with great enthusiasm as the band marched (i.e., Not a serious musician's venue for producing quality music. ) down the street.
I personally know how difficult this time is for you, so I pray the Lord will help you to heal in the coming months.

Doug was a mentor and a great friend who laughed in the face of adversity. I am grateful to him for welcoming me into his his home and Santa Paula community. Doug also had the faith in me to give this Fillmore/Piru boy my start in this long air pollution career. He lives on in the hearts our friends and family.

My big brother, I miss you so much already. You will remain in my heart forever. We grew up together and I always thought we would grow old together too. I guess now I will have to wait till you greet me at Heaven's Gate where you are now helping out St. Peter. I know that's where you are 'cause you were always the official greeter at church. Where else would you be after all. Take care of Dad and Sheila and I will take care of Mom until we meet again.

I first met Doug five years after the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District was formed in 1973. I had just been hired as an inspector. Doug was truly an icon of the district. Any question about anything, Doug was the go to guy. If he didn't know the answer he would point you in the right direction. I have so many wonderful memories. I will always consider him a mentor and good friend. My sincere condolences to the family.

Doug was always gracious, especially when advising me of the substantial permit fee required for the underground storage tank for the Pre-Trial Detention Facility being built at the Govt Center. 1980 - my intro to APCD fees!

Doug, you were one of the most kind and gentle hearted men I've ever met. Shaking your hand every Sunday was a pleasure I looked forward to. Even listening to you talk about sports teams I could care less about was a pleasure because of the passion you projected. Speaking of projection, I'll try to live up to your standards behind the computer when I'm tasked.
You were taken away from us so quickly. I know, without a doubt, that you are being well taken care of in heaven next to your father, your sister, and all of the friends we've lost, but heavens gained.
I'll keep a package of your favorite bubble yum tucked away at church to keep me on my feet and remind me of you.
