Douglas Wright Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 28, 2024.
Douglas Lee Wright, affectionately known as Dog or Pedro Loco, passed away on May 26, 2024, at the age of 59 in Abilene, Texas. He was born on June 23, 1964. Douglas was a cherished figure, known for his humor, straightforward nature, and the simple joys he found in life. He enjoyed life with his grandsons and his daughter Taylor and Fred, son n law.

Douglas graduated from Hawley High School and spent his career dedicated to various roles, including a supervisor at ABM, a worker at Texas Metals, and Hancock Industries. His work ethic and dedication were evident in every task he undertook.

Outside of his professional life, Doug was a man of many interests but most enjoyed spending time with his family and outdoors. He was an avid viewer of TV shows, particularly westerns, and had a special fondness for "Gillian's Island." Despite its unhealthiness, he enjoyed a cold one. Doug also had a love for animals; he cared for his dogs, Red and Big Boy, and took pleasure in looking after hens, which he chose with his youngest grandson, Anthony and daughter Taylor.

One of Doug's favorite films was "Crazy Heart," a movie he loved so much that he owned two copies, sharing one with his daughter, Taylor, who cherishes it deeply. His simple and unpretentious nature made him a beloved presence in the lives of those around him.

Douglas is survived by a loving family: His daughter Taylor and her children: Nicholas, Jonathon and Anthony; Grandsons. Fred; Son-in-law, Justin; Son and Leann; Daughter Lesa; Sister, Dennis; Brother-in-law, Alicia; Niece and Sue;Aunt. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil, and mother, Dorothy, affectionately known as Mommy to Douglas.

Douglas's family respected his wishes for cremation, which was handled by North's Funeral Home in Abilene, TX. His memory will be cherished through the stories shared and the moments remembered by all who truly knew him. Douglas's legacy as a father, friend, and hero will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Happy Heavenly Valentine's Day, Dad. I love you and miss you so much. I am lost without you but I'm still here because you would have wanted me to take care of these kiddos. They sure miss you. They are always telling me stories. I don't think Jonathon understands but he knows something is not right. I miss you so Dad. I wish you were here still so I can take care of you just like you did us. We were the only good ones you had and you were the only good one we had. -Your babygirl

I was the only one there for you, just like you were the only one there for me. Love you so much Dad. I wish I can hear your voice. I always talk about you Dad. I see a penny and pick it up and it reminds me that you are watching me. I love you and miss you so Dad. Today is 01/22/2025. Sad face

I was able to fix you an obituary you deserved and I was able to get legacy to help me disregard your ordinary obituary but this was is better. I have to get them to fix it for me a few times but other than that, I think it's nice for you dad. You deserve. I won't tell anyone that you love me too Dad hehe. You would always tell me that, "Don't tell anyone that I love you babygirl, no one would believe you". I love you dad and miss you so. I never thought I would be without you. At least not for anytime soon but God needed someone like you dad. I still have that ol Red of yours hehe. I am still working on getting our house in my name, Dad. Please watch over us. You didn't get a chance to put it down but you always told me and your grandkids that everything belongs to us when he goes away. He made sure we knew that. I am going to do what's right dad like always and live by you. No more shyness, I'm speaking up about things like you would have wanted also. I love you dad. I will leave a message in a few days. We love you dad. Your grandkids miss you dad. Jonathon doesn't understand but he knows something is different. I love you dad and I will see you when it's my time to be called home. Love, TayTay

Love you so much dad. I miss you so much. I will try my best dad to get this house into my name. I know that's what you would have wanted. Your grandsons want to stay in this when they are older just like you, they said. We still can't believe it Dad. Love you so much and miss you so much. I know you are watching over us. I still have your dog, Red and Big Boy. They are ok, they miss you too. It's never the same. We love you dad.
