Doyle TUCK Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 10 to Nov. 11, 2013.
TUCK, Jr., Doyle Keith

7/26/1961 - 11/7/2013

The collective heart of Dripping Springs, along with thousands of others across Texas, is broken by the loss of our dear friend, father, mentor and beloved coach, Keith Tuck. Coach Tuck passed away suddenly on November 7, 2013 at the age of 52. His untimely death has left our small town mourning as we try to imagine our lives without his smiling face at our school and sporting events, music venues and community functions.

Doyle Keith Tuck, Jr., of Dripping Springs, TX, was loved and admired by all who knew him. His coaching career started in 1985 at Atascocita and took him to Humble, Cold Springs, Lake Travis, Dayton, and finally, Dripping Springs. He coached football, and began coaching softball at Lake Travis High School. Coach Tuck designed the softball fields at Lake Travis and Dayton.

Coach Tuck was one of the most successful high school softball coaches in Texas. Among his many achievements as a high school softball coach, he was named Austin American Statesman Coach of the Year 2006 (All Centex Softball Team). He was also named 2013 Sectional Coach of the Year (for CO, LA, TX, OK, NM and ARK). He took 3 teams to UIL State Tournaments including Dripping Springs in 2011. Nine teams won District Championships under Coach Tuck's leadership.

Keith Tuck loved coaching! His greatest joy in coaching was having the pleasure of coaching his own children, and his greatest joy in his life was his family. He retired last year so that he could spend more time with them. Coach Tuck is survived by his loving wife Sandra, son Jeff, daughter Megan Campbell and husband Doug, and his pride and joy, grandson Max Campbell. He is also survived by sisters, Marjess Tovar and husband Phil of Smithville, Texas, Trisha Grabarkewitz and husband Teddy of Richland Springs, Texas, brother-in-law Johnny Rush and wife Virginia of Buna, Texas, sisters-in-law, Jo Lee Hukill and husband Freddie of Huntsville, Texas, and Ouisa Rush of Woodville, Texas. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Clark, Lauri, Sami and Teddy Grabarkewitz, Tricia Hubenak, Dana, Leslie and Jordan Tovar, Amanda, Melissa and Stephen Zeller, Bo, Clint, Tyler and B.J. Hukill, Stacey and John Rus, and numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews. Coach Tuck was preceded in death by his daughter Brittany, his mother and father Patty and Doyle Tuck, Sr. and his mother and father-in-law, Jodie and R.L. Rush. The outpour of love from former and current students across Texas has been overwhelming. So many have written on social media, or have conveyed to the family in other ways, their love and respect for Coach Tuck. Many have expressed that the impact he had on them was life changing, and will never be forgotten. He was a father figure to thousands of young men and women.

Thank you, Coach Tuck, for your many years of selfless service to the young lives placed in your care. Thank you for your encouragement, words of wisdom, and bear hugs. Your legacy and stories of your life will live on through those who love you.

Visitation for Keith will be Sunday, November 10th from 2-4 pm. First Baptist Church, Dripping Springs, 203 West Hwy 290, Dripping Springs, Texas.

Services will be held on Monday, November 11th at Dripping Springs Tiger Stadium, Tiger Lane at Bell Springs Road. Viewing from 1-1:30 pm Service following at 2 pm. Burial following ceremony at Fall Creek Cemetery, Hwy 71 West, Spicewood, Texas.

Keith always had a smile on his face . He was loved by all. Friends since Britt was 2. Even though we didn't see each other as often as we should when we did it was like we saw each other everyday . That's the kind of friend Keith was . The rest of the family is the same they had a great example to follow. What a wonderful family!

My most fond memories of Keith were in high school. Keith was always full of cheer and kept us all fired up. I remember riding around at lunch time through the Lost Pines in the State Park, stopping off at the Chicken Place for lunch. Keith will always hold a special place in my heart. Big Ole Teddy Bear to me, always had open arms for a big hug, and a BIG smile. Goooooooo BEARSSSSSSSSSSS

Coach Tuck was a GREAT man and left a lasting impression on me. I graduated from Humble over 20 years ago and still remember the impact he has had on my life. I was fortunate enough to have Mrs. Tuck as a teacher in 3rd grade and then I got to know Coach Tuck in High School as a mentor and friend. My prayers are with the family, he will be missed

My children, Will and Wendy Lamb were both coached by Coach Tuck years ago at Lake Travis. He was such a kind and wonderful man, that had such a talent for instilling confidence and character in the kids he coached.
I am so thankful that we knew him.

Condolences and prayers for the Tuck family. Also for the all the softball players this coach may have had an impact on. My daughter briefly got to meet/speak to him last Monday at our league game against DS. He had many praising words for her everytime he walked passed her to coach 3rd base and at that did not even know her. Explains what type of person he was. May God continue to give you all strength as you mourn the loss of your Coach/father/grandfather/husband.

My sympathy and prayers go out to the Tuck family and many friends who share in this loss. Keith touched the lives of both my daughters over the years, on and off the softball field. I have fond memories of the friendly rivalry between Keith and Rose Ruffino during his years at Lake Travis. My husband, Jim Robertson, admired and respected Keith and enjoyed competing with his ASA softball teams. May individual fond memories bring much needed comfort.

So sorry to hear of the death of my cousin, Keith. Wish we were able to spend more time together through the years--but Indiana and Texas were pretty far apart! Your attitude and zest for life was inspirational, and your legacy will be all the young people whose lives you have impacted in such a meaningful way. You can now join your loving Mom and Dad and beautiful Brittany in paradise. May you rest in peace Keith.
