Dr. Charles Edward Gant Jr. 72, died on October 17, in Chevy Chase Maryland. "Charlie" was the son of the late Charles and Ella Gant and graduated from Millville High School in 1968 where he was an accomplished athlete in basketball and tennis, and an outstanding clarinetist, concert master in the New Jersey All-State Band. As a tennis player, he participated in the Timex Watch Tour in Florida during the 1970's. He completed his undergraduate degree at Hampden-Sydney College on full basketball scholarship, and his medical degree at the University of Virginia. After completing his residency and obtaining his license as a physician, he moved to Arizona where he worked in the Indian Health Service supporting the Havasupai Indians. He practiced medicine for many years, first in Syracuse, New York before moving to Washington DC where he worked for over 20 years at National Integrated Health Associates. He also received a PhD in Psychology. He was a recognized expert in functional, integrated, and precision medicine and mindfulness-based psychotherapy. He was always looking for new ways to help his patients. Always an innovator, he wrote several forward-thinking books on science and medical topics, including End Your Addiction Now, ADD & ADHD Medical Solutions, Awaken Your Godly Brain, and An Earthly Chance: Redefining the climate problem. An absent-minded professor, Charlie marched to a different drummer but was dearly loved by his family for his irrepressible personality, his sense of humor and his gentle nature. Charlie is survived by sons Dr. Joshua Felver(Sarah) Dr. Jason Felver (Susanne) and their mother Colleen Felver, grandchildren Jacob, Zoe and Nora, sister Nancy Gant Forester and brother-in law William Forester, sister-in- law Debora Gant, and many nieces and nephews and his loyal dog Luke (who survived him by one day).`He was predeceased by his beloved brother William Gant. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorials can be sent to the charity of one's choice.

I just found Charlie´s obituary. I am so sorry he left us. My husband and I have enjoyed good health as a result of his care. Our lives have been truly blessed by his willingness to think outside the box.

Dr Gant is absolutely best doctor I will ever have. He helped me in ways that can´t possibly be explained in a simple way. He was decades ahead of his time and I strongly encourage people to study his work and his approach to health and wellness!!!

I appreciated his groundbreaking work with amino acids so many years ago. Others have since jumped on that bandwagon, but I credit Dr. Gant as the innovator.

I became a patient of Dr. Gant's in 1997 at my wits end of dealing with symptoms that were misdiagnosed as a mental disorder.

The first thing I noticed in his office was a picture frame with the simple definition of the word "doctor" and its origin from a Latin word, meaning to teach.

Dr. Gant acted not only in the capacity of a physician to his patients, but also as educator who was kind, genuine, down-to-earth, and communicated with empathy and compassion.

Dr. Gant's influence helped me to become an educated and empowered patient. I am forever grateful for his services and enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor.
