Dr. George Tumaneng Obituary
Dr. Tumaneng was born February 22, 1941, in Jones, Isabela, Philippines, the only son of the late Anastacio and Filomena (Ancheta) Tumaneng. He graduated with his Doctorate in Medicine from Far Eastern University College of Medicine in Manila. He immigrated to the United States and completed his internship at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago. He then moved to Flint and completed his residency at Saint Joseph's Hospital. Dr. Tumaneng married Myrna Basilio Ponce on June 20, 1970, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Flint.
Dr. Tumaneng served the Flint community as a family practitioner in private practice in Genesee County for 41 years. He was a member of the Genesee County Medical Society, the Michigan State Medical Society, the Pilipino-American Association of Greater Flint, and the American Medical Association. He worked until his retirement at the age of 71. He was passionate about providing excellent health care for his patients and would have continued to practice medicine, had he not developed ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).
He will be remembered as a calm, caring husband and father. He was an avid golfer and loved his colleagues and fellow members of the Primary Care Tour. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Myrna; his two daughters, Daphne (Steven Seelinger) of Franklin, MI and Aimee (Chris Morgan) of New York, NY; and a loving extended family throughout the world. He will be missed dearly and loved forever.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 29, 2013 from 1:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc. A rosary will be prayed Friday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Coughlin celebrant. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 PM until time of Mass at the church.

Sadly I just heard today that George passed!! I'm soooo hurt and wish I could of been there for you Myrna. I hope to see you again. I think of you guys everyday and to hear of this really saddens me. Very Fond memories of Dr. Tumaneng. I remember going to his office as a child. Very gentle man, pleasant personality. I had stitches in my foot from an accident during a family vacation when I was young. His kind words and the promise of a sucker when he was done taking them out made it a comforting experience.

So very saddened to hear of a wonderful man's passing. Dr. Tumaneng was always very gracious to me when I visited his office as a pharma rep. Soft spoken, kind, engaging and compassionate are just a few words that describe him. He raised the bar for his colleagues. He will not be forgotten and his caring legacy lives on.

Dear Mrs. Tumaneng and family, We are so sad to hear of Dr. Tumaneng's passing. He was our family doctor from the time he started family practice until we retired and moved to Grayling 3 years ago. Finding a new physician after all those years with him was one of the hardest choices we had to make when we decided to move. At one time, Dr. Tumaneng was treating four generations of our family - Candy's dad, ourselves and our daughter.son-in-law and their son. He was the greatest doctor and will be missed very much. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Manong George was so dear to me as I considered him my 2nd brother and closest cousin.
I spent quality time with him most especially during his semestral break while in Pre-Med. We may have 10 years difference of age but we enjoyed being together. He taught me how to swim as he likes to swim so much.
When I was told that he has ALS, i was devastated and promised myself to visit and will take care of him next year.
I may not have seen him but he will be lovingly remembered forever.

Dr. Tumaneng was my doctor for 40 years and I am saddened by his passing. He was so caring and personal, calling me with test results, etc. as if I were his only patient. He was what a good doctor should be

I will always remember Dr. Tumaneng as a very friendly, caring & loving person. Being a Pharmaceutical Representative for many years, he was always inviting and supported me and my company as I visited his office. More importantly, he always asked how MY FAMILY was. Mrs. Tumaneng and family,

Dr. Tumaneng was our family doctor until we moved away from Flint. We last saw him in 1996 (by then I had nearly grown up), and recently, wondered what he was doing. While he did have to cut his practice short, I'm glad he got to practice until he saw fit to retire. I really wish there were more doctors like him.
