I learned so much from Dr. Pardes during my time as his driver. He taught me about NYC and how to be a human being. His love of caring for others knew no bounds. I´m honored to have been able to call Herb a colleague and a true friend. In every setting of academic medical center leaders, he was the concert master. He asked the first question, made the first call to a political leader for help, set the standard for excellence and was quick to remind us all of our first priority and sacred responsibility to our patients and their families. What a leader, what´s role model and what an example of a life well lived. Rest in peace friend.

Herb was a giant in the health care system. As a new Dean of nursing I had the wonderful opportunity of working with Herb who always gave support without directing me, guidance when asked for, and presence with those whom I asked for funding . He was brilliant in so many ways, full of energy and humor and everyone wanted to help fund his dreams for the medical center. He was a unique leader.
