Dr. John Neil Case, Jr, of Coral Springs, Florida, husband to Paula G. Case, passed at the Broward Health North hospital in Pompano Beach, Florida on Sunday March 17, 2024

Born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late John Neil Case, Sr and Mary Louise Oosterhoudt, John is survived by his wife Paula G. Chapklin Case, sister Patricia Case; his children John Neil Case III, Mary F. Chase (Wayne), Christian F. M. Case (Hope); grandchildren Sarah Varner (Seth), Marissa Golas (Devan), Michael Case (Taylor), Victoria Case, and Ashley Chase; great-grandchildren K. Beau Varner, Colton K. Case, Ripp M. Case, Tristan I. Stull, Aariana Webb, and Teagan Shultz. John is pre-deceased by his son Ronald Anton.

John enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve, serving in the 3rd Bn, 1st ITR at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. After an Honorable discharge, he attended Jacksonville University, University of Florida College of Agriculture, and Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine, achieving the title of DVM.

John started his first veterinary practice in Lakeland, Florida. In late 1970, he moved to Miami, Florida where he met his wife and continued his own practice, specializing in exotic animals. He was a member of the Rotary club of North Miami Beach, offered his expertise while working pro bono to treat the animals at the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science, and performed surgery on a Bumblebee Grouper to remove a tumor. John loved what he did and continued to treat animals until his retirement at the age of 81.

Throughout the years, starting in 1955, John was a prolific collector of veterinary memorabilia, which eventually became the John N. Case, Jr Veterinary Corps Collection. The collection's pieces span over 100 years, 50 countries, and is considered one of the largest of three collections in the world of Veterinary Corps antiques. John's Veterinary Corps Collection permanently resides at the Texas A&M University Medical Sciences Library.
