Dr. Kenneth Pearson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 20, 2025.

Dr. Kenneth Michael Pearson, 80, of East Montpelier, Vermont, passed away on January 13, 2025. He was born on April 25, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, to John Sheldon and Josephine "Joanne" Mercedes (Jermyn) Pearson. As a child he moved with his family to Pennsylvania; first to Milford, and then eventually to Scotrun.

Kenneth pursued his education at Pocono Mountain and Stroudsburg High Schools before attending East Stroudsburg University. He later earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania. His dedication to service extended beyond his profession, as he served as a Major in the United States Army, stationed in Mannheim, Germany. His time abroad fostered a lifelong love of travel, which he shared with family and friends.

Committed to helping others, Kenneth participated in missionary trips across Central and South America, providing essential dental care to underserved communities and assisting in building churches.

He enjoyed summers at the family cabin, swimming and kayaking, and spent winters skiing and snowmobiling. He volunteered weekly to take schoolchildren skiing during the winter months and even spent a season grooming snowmobile trails. A skilled strategist, he was also a master bridge player and found great enjoyment in the mental challenge of chess.

Kenneth's hardworking nature and social spirit were evident in all aspects of his life. He loved storytelling and had a natural ability to connect with people of all ages. He had special bonds, not only with his children and grandchildren, but also with his nieces, nephews, and their children.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara (Dymond) Pearson; son Kurt Pearson; daughter Susan (Pearson) Gabor and husband Joseph; grandchildren Tim Pearson and wife Rose, and A. Kaye Pearson and husband Luke Hanna. He is further survived by his brother David Pearson and wife Karen; sister Dr. Arliene Pearson; brother-in-law Jim Callisto, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and two godsons. He was predeceased by his sister Pamela Callisto and brother-in-law Douglas Kwasnik.

A celebration of Dr. Pearson's life will be held in the spring at a date to be announced. For updates on arrangements, please email [email protected].

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as an enduring inspiration for a life well lived.
