Dr. Nestor R. Carabajal Obituary
Nestor was known for his strong will, confidence, and enthusiasm for life. His adventurous spirit led him to travel extensively, yet he remained deeply loyal to his roots and family. A passionate individual, his hobbies included music, traveling, biking, fishing, woodworking and string instrument restoration.
He is survived by his soulmate, Ellen; his children, Veronica Shaughnessy (Dan), Nestor (Amy), Andrew, Byron, and Christian; his siblings, Mercedez Carabajal de Bordon, Ana Maria Carabajal de Alcoba, Mario Carabajal; and 6 grandchildren (Kyle, Rhys and Alexa Shaughnessy, Amelia, Avery and Arden Carabajal). He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria Elsa Barbero and Nestor Carabajal.
A memorial service and celebration of Nestor's life will be held at The Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe, at Juan Diego Catholic High School in Draper, Utah on July 21st at 10:30am. The memorial will be followed by a reception at Café Madrid in Holladay, UT from 12:00pm - 2:00pm (5244 Highland Dr., Holladay, UT 84117).
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a La Orquesta Escuela Mediterránea. (Please reference the link at the bottom of the page)
We will cherish and remember his sense of humor, generosity and ability to make every occasion a reason for a party. We love you, Dad.

El Dr. Néstor R. Carabajal, de 78 años, falleció el 29 de junio de 2024 en su casa de Henderson, Nevada. Nacido el 12 de noviembre de 1945 en Santiago del Estero, Argentina, el Dr. Carabajal fue un distinguido cirujano cardiotorácico reconocido por su trabajo en el Hospital St. Joseph en Atlanta, Georgia, donde jugó un papel decisivo en el desarrollo del programa cardiovascular durante numerosos años. Fue un hombre de muchas pasiones, vivió una vida marcada por su amor por la música, la aventura, profundas conexiones con su familia y su querido Campo en Córdoba.
Néstor era conocido por su fuerte voluntad, confianza y entusiasmo por la vida. Su espíritu aventurero lo llevó a viajar mucho, pero se mantuvo profundamente leal a sus raíces y a su familia. Una persona apasionada, sus pasatiempos incluían la música, viajar, andar en bicicleta, pescar, carpintería y restaurar instrumentos de cuerda.
Le sobrevive su alma gemela, Ellen; sus hijos, Veronica Shaughnessy (Dan), Nestor (Amy), Andrew, Byron y Christian; sus hermanos, Mercedez Carabajal de Bordón, Ana María Carabajal de Alcoba, Mario Carabajal; y 6 nietos (Kyle, Rhys y Alexa Shaughnessy, Amelia, Avery y Arden Carabajal). Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, María Elsa Barbero y Néstor Carabajal.
Un servicio conmemorativo y una celebración de la vida de Néstor tendrá lugar en la Capilla de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, en la Escuela Secundaria Católica Juan Diego en Draper, Utah, el 21 de julio a las 10:30 hrs, seguido de una recepción en el Café Madrid en Holladay, UT apartir de las 12:00 hrs hasta las 14:00 hrs. (5244 Highland Dr., Holladay, UT 84117).

Nestor was larger than life and loved, lived and embraced life to its fullest. I met him in 1990 when I took a position at the practice. He was always making us laugh, hosting amazing dinners and taking care of business. He hired my best friend Jacque and they had an amazing relationship with Jacque out picking up boats or making him the best espresso ever. Parties at his house always included music and amazing food from him home country. He will be missed by many but I am sure he will forever look over and protect Ellen and all the kids and grandkids. He loved his family.

I am so sad I just learned of his passing by a mutual friend. Dr. Carabajal was always the life of the party and hosted the best ones. I am sure his family misses him so much. Rest in peace sir. I remember him having me go to the Argentinean counselee to get his beagles certified to be able to travel with him. He loved those dogs!

Nestor was full of energy, funny and loyal to his friends. Cane Creek was never the same after Nester, Ellen and the boys sold their property. I think of the Carabahal family often. RIP Nester, you were a good man

My first memory of Nestor was at a Juan Diego soccer game. I remember a man I had never seen before yelling, really yelling, let´s call it "critiques" at the coach. Knowing that Coach Plat has a zero tolerance policy for screaming parents, unless of course it´s positive, I quickly went over and spoke with Nestor. Not knowing each other and Nestor being Nestor and me being born and bred in NYC, it got a quite heated but I assured Nestor that Coach knew what he was doing and all would be fine. We quickly became allies and soccer game friends. My son, Alex adored Nestor´s bigger than life personality, generosity and ribs if I remember correctly. They were the best ever! I truly was an honor to be in his world of not only for a short few years. And Ellen, the epitome of beauty and grace sat with Tebow letting Nestor be Nestor.

Nestor was the father of our ensemble family in Draper. So many wonderful memories of camaraderie spent mostly at the Carabajal compound sharing laughs, food and music. The kids if they were not making music were eating, swimming, soaking in the hot tub, playing soccer or video games and in the middle of it all was Nestor. He was either conducting or moving from group to group making everyone feel welcome. If you had family that were visiting they were always welcomed with open arms. Nestor´s appetite for life, fun and music was contagious!! We were truly blessed to have known him and our hearts and prayers go out to Ellen and his family for the void he left with his passing. We pray that some day in the near future the memories that now bring tears to your eyes will make you smile with love.

Querida Familia,
Desde aqui queremos dejarles un gran abrazo y muchas fuerzas para el camino que os queda de transitar.
Para nosotros nuestro tio Kuqui descansa en paz y seguramente desde su lugar en el cielo continua difrutando ,planificando nuevas aventuras, sigue cantando, y haciendo de cada momento un instante especial.
Lo vamos a extrañas muchisimo y en nosotros genera una profunda tristeza no tenerlo mas entre nosotros, pero no obstante, nos quedan los mejores recuerdo de su persona, de ser un gran soñador y que hasta las metas mas complicadas el se las proponia y las cumplia. Un ejemplo de perseverancia, de constancia y de espiritu alegre,..... nos dejo muchos recuerdo hermoso e imborrable.

Acompañamos desde aquí este trago amargo pero a la vez con una sonrisa en recorder a Cuqui.
Junto con mi hermana, Ester Forzani, revisamos su álbum de fotos y hemos visto tantas fotos de cuando eran jóvenes. Cuqui (Nestor) iba a la casa de mi mamá y bailaba el rock and roll, siendo el centro de las fiestas!. Esos recuerdos son imborrables para nosotros. El dejo una impression muy profunda en nosotros. Estamos agradecidas por esas memorias.

From here we accompany the sad loss of Cuqui (Nestor) but at the same time with a smile in remembering him!
Together with my sister, Ester Forzani, we went through her photo album and we have seen so many photos from when they were young. Cuqui (Nestor) would go to my mother's house and dance to rock and roll, being the center of the parties! Those memories are indelible for us. He left a very deep impression on us. I am grateful for all those memories. THANKS Cuqui!!

Nestor and Ellen are our neighbors at Outdoor Resorts in Indio. Nestor loved nothing more than being surrounded by a group of friends, telling stories and sharing good times. I will always remember him standing on his lot cooking a giant pot of Paella for the whole neighborhood. He was happy and healthy then, with a great big smile on his face:)

I will always remember Nestor when the boys were seniors at JD. During homecoming pep rally, all of the parents were in the stands taking photos etc.... All but one.... You guessed it, Nestor was on the gymnasium floor right in all of the action taking photos of the boys. Every time I think of that year I think of how he made me smile that day. We have so enjoyed this family and appreciate how much all of you have impacted our family.

My Uncle Nestor was the only person able to made me laugh as anyone made me laugh before!. His stories of him and my Dad during their teenagers years of life deserve to be kept and compiled. They are so humorous and memorable that my daughter (Charlie Mae, 8) loves hearing them again, again and again before going to sleep at night. He was one of the best uncles someone could ever had. Thanks Uncle Nestor for the happy moments you gave us in our lives and the stories that will be kept in the family for the generations to come!. I love you.
¡Mi tío Néstor fue la única persona capaz de hacerme reír como nadie antes me había hecho reír!. Sus historias sobre él y mi papá durante sus años de adolescencia merecen ser conservadas y compiladas. Son tan divertidas y memorables que a mi hija (Charlie Mae, 8 años) le encanta escucharlas una y otra vez antes de irse a dormir por la noche. Fue uno de los mejores tíos que alguien podría tener. ¡Gracias tío Néstor por los momentos felices que nos regalaste en nuestras vidas y las historias que quedarán guardadas en la familia para las generaciones venideras!. Te amo!
