Dr. William Harrell Shuman, Jr. Obituary
He was born May 13, 1926 in Dublin, Georgia. He was the son of the late William Harrell Shuman, Sr. and Susan Williamson Shuman. Dr. Shuman, "Bill," practiced optometry until he was 93 years old.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sons, William H. Shuman, III and Robert Parker Shuman; brother, Dr. Robert Charles Shuman and son-in-law, Ted Hermeling.
Survivors include his adored wife, Merlene Shuman; daughters, Kay Hermeling, Deana Frink (Brad), Kathy Adams, Cindy Compton (Tony) and Lisa Nunnally; he also leaves behind several grandchildren and great grandchildren, including a grandson, Walker Roy, who shares his May 13th birthday.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2023, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or The Salvation Army.
Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I am so very sorry to hear this news, I thought the World of Dr. William Shuman, Jr.. He was my whole family's Eye Doctor 1969-1975, 1980. He started out in Downtown Athens, GA..& when the Mall Open He came out. I know he loved down at Greenbriar Cove on Lake Oconee, my In laws David & Hilda Bridges was first house on the Right when you turned in Big Oak Tree with a Swing, BIG GYM SET THEY MADE Hugs & Prayers Coming for All
